Word is from the press that Michelle Obama will be vetoing Hillary as VP

Michelle Obama thinks her vote is worth more than the MAJORITY of the democratic party registered voters who voted for Hillary.

What else will Michelle Obama veto?

News flash: voters don't pick the VP. And Obama has every right to choose whoever he wants as his VP. What planet are you on, anyway?

by upstate girl on Sun May 11, 2008 at 06:59:33 PM EST

Besides, we don't need Michelle Obama... (none / 0)

... to tell us that Hillary is unqualified to be VP.

Hillary has done that herself, because she has proven herself unqualified to be POTUS.

Hillary is unsuited to be Obama's VP for the same reason that Hillary was unsuited to the Democratic nomination:  it disarms the Democrats' strongest arguments against McCain, the "supports the Iraq Invasion and Occupation" argument, and the "bad judgement" argument that flows therefrom.

Obama can't put anyone on his ticket who supported the illegal and immoral invasion and occupation of Iraq, unless that person a) realized very early on that they had made a mistake, and 2) vocalized early and often the fact that they had made a mistake, 3) apologized for that mistake, and 4) worked their ass off to reverse that mistake.

Hillary has disqualified herself on all four counts.

In addition, Hillary's campaign, losing the nomination, when a year ago everyone -- including her -- considered that she had an insurmountable edge, to an upstart first term Senator that almost nobody gave any chance of succeeding a year ago, has demonstrated that she is incapable of running a large organization strategically and effectively.  Again, that disqualifies her from being POTUS.

There are at this time no rational arguments that can be made to support Hillary over Obama (mostly, arguments of precedent) that do not equally argue that neither of them should be the nominee.

The only arguments her supporters have left to press are emotional arguments, and those are not legitimate reasons for superdelegates to overturn the vote of the majority.

I can think of a few rational arguments for superdelegates to decide that neither Clinton nor Obama are as suitable for the job as some other Democrats might be, but it's going to take some serious turns of events to push them to do anything that drastic.

Okay, let me qualify my statement. (2.00 / 2)

If he wants to win the election, Obama can't put anyone on his ticket who supported the illegal and immoral invasion and occupation of Iraq, unless that person a) realized very early on that they had made a mistake, and 2) vocalized early and often the fact that they had made a mistake, 3) apologized for that mistake, and 4) worked their ass off to reverse that mistake.

He can do anything he wants. but it would be a stupid mistake to put such a person on his ticket, thereby disarming his strongest argument against McCentury.

And Obama's not the candidate who has consistently been making stupid mistakes in the campaign so far.

Al technically you are being a troll.

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]

1. ur posting is irrelevant to the topic
2. your disrupting discourse
(3.) your being immature.

that and you keep posting ur post repeatedly in several different discussions.  you've become a troll. a troll.

I used that example to tie in with the diary's premise that what Michelle says is law.  I do hope that if Obama is the nominee, that he will make a reasoned decision to pick a VP that will unite the democratic party.

because right now, half of the democratic party is spitting mad - not because Hillary is behind, but because of the snarky comments that still continue from Obama supporters.

And yet, when Hillary supporters make a snarky comment, troll-rating abounds and I am now a TROLL.  Which is ironic, considering the crap they dished out against Hillary, which is 100 times worse than me being sarcastic about his backbone.

You took a report from the press that actually said Michelle Obama never said anything, was heard saying anything, or was even thought to have said anything like this- they just speculated she might- and you're passing it off as fact and ranting about it.

Taylor, I expect better from you. This is yellow journalism. Besides, Obama should have the right to pick his Vice President at his own discretion, to who will bring the best assets to his ticket. That may not be Senator Clinton; that could be Jim Webb, Bill Richardson, Kathleen Sebelius, Ed Rendell, Ted Strickland, Chuck Hagel, etc, etc. All have plenty of positives and minuses. But to think we should have to give the runner-up the VP slot is a bad way to run things.

Uh, as I recall, (2.00 / 1)

I loved it when the first lady from 1993-2001 had a lot of influence.

I even think that person's influential role as First Lady was instrumental in her later political career.

I'm sure wannabe First Husband Bill (2.00 / 1)

would have NO influence on President Hillary Clinton.

Re: So Michelle Obama will be the next president? (none / 0)

i hope not. no offense but Michelle needs to take a cue from her husband sometimes. She gives the impression that tension is boiling beneath her skin. I get that angry wierd vibe from her.

it's not ok for the wife of a Presidential candidate or President to be involved in her husband's issues...so what experience does Hillary have again?

Any president's spouse will have a certain amount of influence. That's inevitable.

Re: Defending Michelle (none / 0)

When its all said and done, Michele Obama is likely to put Hillary Clinton to shame in terms of first ladies attracting the anger of conservatives.

This may or may not be a good thing.

Re: Defending Michelle (none / 0)

It came damned close to putting Hillary in the Oval Office. Michelle might just make it. She's had to lay low because the corporate media is gunning for her, but after November you're gonna see what she's made of. She'll be bigger than Oprah and change the world.

wow (none / 0)

Her dislike of HRC is legendary.  After all, she said she wanted to "scratch his [bill clinton] eyes out".  Whou would want to be around that kind of hostility?  Well she just lost her husband half of the democratic party, and lots and lots of women. I thought axelrod was trying to "soften" her image?

Michelle Obama - Obnoxious and Dumb (none / 0)

Read her Princeton BA thesis. Could have been written by a 12 year old. The ugly side of affirmative action. She is so effing bitter.
She is as big a liability as Cindy McCain.

Re: So Michelle Obama will be the next president? (none / 0)

I don't recall ever reading in the press about a potential First Lady having such a strong role in the VP selection process. When our company interviewed candidates for an open Vice-President position, I don't recall the President's wife having any say in the matter. Of course, in politics, I always assumed spouses had some input, but not like this. I could be wrong, and I'm sure there are many MyDD'ers waiting to politely correct me.
